While doing research for Episode 1 of the Jedemi Chronicles (Note: Up to this point we’ve had prequels and a pilot), my path led me to Lost Pins in Paris. Specifically, I wanted to know if Thomas Edison (AKA “Tommie”) had spent time in the “City of Lights.”
Sure enough, I found out that in 1889, he and his wife took a 3-week journey with an itinerary that included visiting the Exposition Universelle of 1889 was a World’s Fair held in Paris, France from 6 May to 31 October 1889.
The main symbol of the Fair was the Eiffel Tower, which was completed in 1889, and served as the entrance arch to the Fair.
Note: Tommie may have encountered the following:
Buffalo Bill recruited American sharpshooter Annie Oakley to rejoin his “Wild West Show” which performed for packed audiences throughout the Exposition.
But I digress. When researching Tommie in Paris, what I found on YouTube was quite amazing — moving pictures taken by Edison from the Exposition in 1900 (so his return 11 years later).
Here are two examples.
