In a very special café owned by a very special lady, spirits from the past arrived on a mission to ignite the imagination and enable the creative spirit which resides in all of us. The Jedemi Chronicles are a series of stories which capture the adventures of these spirits as they interact with the various people they encounter at the café – including its owner, Viv.
“The Taming of Viv” episode is where she first finds out about the spirits and their connection to an Enchanted Jukebox which has come into her possession.
The Enchanted Jukebox plays quite a few songs which add another dimension to the story being told. You can have a listen below. Just “Click to Hear” (CtH) on the jukebox near the referenced song.
>> Reference: Just then the Jukebox starts up — and it is playing HISTORY REPEATING (PROPELLER HEADS). Some of the track lighting has come on too — and uncharacteristically begins pulsating– adding to the energy of the place.

DOC
What kind of music has been playing
in your Jukebox since it started working…
came to life?
VIV
Mostly Big Band stuff. The folks
here love it. And that Mary Lou
Williams music — very powerful
keyboards that woman plays!

JOEY
And it kind of went Michigan J.
Frog. Take a listen.
Just then the Jukebox plays the first song that Mr. H. was slammed with: “UNBELIEVABLE” by EMF.
VIV
Whoa! And at that volume too?
DOC
Oh Yeah!
A clip of “YOU’RE NOT ALONE” by Olive plays, followed by“CANTALOOP” by US3, and “PUMP UP THE VOLUME” by MARRS. And when the last song starts to play, while the Jukebox’s lights begin to pulse.

JOEY
Anyway, he was pretty determined
to close the deal and there’s no
way he was going to let a
rambunctious jukebox get in his
way…
DOC
… or muck with his mind. So he
decided to try to get some shut
eye. — But the tenacious jukebox
kept messing with him.
Doc queues up “DA DA DA, I DON’T LOVE YOU, YOU DON’T LOVE ME” by TRIO.
VIV
Ha! Good one.

SONG LYRICS
I wanna know What you’re thinking.
There are some things you can’t
hide. I wanna know What you’re
feeling. Tell me what’s on your
mind.
I know I could break you down, But
what good would it do? I could
surely never know That what you say
is true. Here I am in silence, It’s
a game I have to play.
You and I in silence. With nothing
else to say. I wanna know What
you’re thinking. There are some
things you can’t hide. I wanna know
What you’re feeling.
Tell me what’s on your mind…
VIV
That’s… That’s pretty amazing…
And perfectly appropriate too.
>> Reference: After Viv goes home for the evening…
FRANKIE
I’ll say. It was awesome to see
her walk out of here with a smile
on her face, you know. She was so
down earlier today.
The Jukebox starts playing JACKIE WILSON SAID… BY VAN MORRISON. And again the scene closes with dancing shadows –eventually fading out.
Now we are shifting gears to the music that was part of JedeMic Night.
In no time she returns with a napkin that says, “Thank you for letting me be myself again…”
FRANNIE
So guys… what do you think?
DOC
Sly and the Family Stone, right?
FRANNIE
Some think so. Sure sounds like what
he is singing.
JOEY
And perfectly ambiguous too. It
could apply to either of them or
both.
Sam turns on his radio and BILLY JOEL’S “TELL HER ABOUT IT” comes on. At first, he doesn’t make the connection.
RADIO
“Tell her about it, tell her
everything you feel. Give her every
reason to accept that you’re for
real. Tell her about it, tell her
all your crazy dreams. Let her know
you need her, let her know how much
she means.”
At the next light, he pulls the napkin out again. And then it dawns on him.
SAM
Billy Joel? I ended up with a
napkin with a message from Billy
Joel? Must be a coincidence.
>> Reference: Sam has mustered up the courage to tell Viv how he feels, but the timing doesn’t work out.
Viv is halfway back towards the office when she turns towards Sam.
VIV
Sorry ’bout that. Catch you later!
Before Sam could blink, Viv is gone. He taps the jukebox and says in hushed tones.
SAM
Another day… another day.
The jukebox now switched back to Big Band and plays “In the Mood,” as Sam leaves the cafe.
>> Reference: The jukebox continues to be dialed into the mood of the cafe as it
starts playing– Janet Jackson’s ALRIGHT song.
JUKEBOX
…Friends come and friends may go
My friend, you’re real I know. True
self you have shown. You’re alright
with me. Thru thick and thick to
thin I’ll love you till the end
You know it’s true my friend
You’re alright with me.
Viv is smiling and when she looks over at the Jukebox, Sam is standing there. This really seems to cheer her up. She walks over and taps him on the shoulder.
SAM
Why, howdy, Lady! Fancy meeting
you here.
VIV
Hey Sam! You just slip in?
SAM
You looked busy so I figured I’d
see how my favorite Jukebox was
doing.
