Greetings, Folks!
Thanks for your interest in the upcoming Dolores ‘itas Party.
The Clubhouse
[Countrywood HOA]
1706 Countrywood Ct
Walnut Creek, CA 94598
Off Treat near Bancroft for those unfamiliar with the area.
Parking on the street.
We’ll cone off a loading zone.
Rains are coming, so we want to facilitate “as dry as possible” entry.
We have the room all day. Will probably start beverages upon arrival with food to follow (buffet style).
Most Important: Drive safe!
Get there when you can get there.
Now for your amusement, another installment of … Life at Jedemi HQ (pre-party edition).
INT. JEDEMI HQ KITCHEN
It’s early morning and Annie is scribbling away in her journal.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
MS.DCG
Ah… Got your attention right off
the bat… good!
ANNIE
Yes, Boss. Figured you’d be wanting
an update as we are close to your
party day.
MS.DCG
I see lots of activity. David with
the juicer and … whatever he’s
got going on.
ANNIE
We promised margaritas and he’ll
make pitchers of the best darn ones
ever. Better yet, we’ve got a neat
dispenser… beehive. Lots easier.
MS.DCG
Beehive? Interesting. So, What’s up
with those? They look like…
ANNIE
Little margarita “glasses” made of
plastic. He thought of
everything… including what he’d
be serving in.
MS.DCG
Good… And for those who don’t
want to partake?
ANNIE
Again, he thought of everything.
David being David… there will be
lemonade and ice tea and…
MS.DCG
Arnold Palmers! Nice!
ANNIE
Soft drinks and water and…
MS.DCG
Okay, beverages are covered. What
about the La Pinata food?
ANNIE
He placed the order– Got your
steak fajitas and chicken ones too.
He added in flautas.
MS.DCG
Huh?
Annie checks Internet.
ANNIE
Crispy rolled tacos. Maybe a bit
like those egg rolls you get at
Panda.
MS.DCG
Gotcha!
ANNIE
And we’ll have the fixins too.
Beans and rice, chips and salsa and
pico de gallo, flour and corn
tortillas — and greens as in
salad.
MS.DCG
Bases are covered! Nice!
ANNIE
That’s our David.
MS.DCG
And what’s my Annie doing?
ANNIE
Well… the Peet’s run at 9am. You
love Peets coffee so we made sure
there’s some to have with dessert.
MS.DCG
Dessert… Yum… Cookies?
ANNIE
Working on it, but yes. That’s the
game plan.
MS.DCG
Besides a coffee run, you are…
ANNIE
Meeting the truck today. We’re
taking over The Clubhouse at
Countrywood so I’ll be working on
setup and tear down.
MS.DCG
Truck?
ANNIE
We ordered comfy chairs and some
tables to go along with what they
already have. And tablecloths
and… other stuff to help
facilitate serving food and
beverage. Drop-off today.
MS.DCG
Wow…
ANNIE
We selected The Clubhouse because
the acoustics would be better than
at a restaurant. And the bonus that
we know you’d appreciate…
MS.DCG
That is?
ANNIE
There’s a little kitchen with a
microwave — so we can reheat for
people. I learned from you … the
food is never hot enough.
MS.DCG
Got that right. Good thinking!
ANNIE
Latham tag-team at work… And
there’s more. I’m bringing our
little panini press so we can make
quesadillas for those who want
something without meat.
MS.DCG
Okay… you have been busy thinking
this out.
ANNIE
The Clubhouse rule is pack-in/pack-out.
We’ll have garbage cans for
the paper products and waste we
generate — napkins, plates, cups,
etc.
MS.DCG
Lots of details…
ANNIE
At some point, it’ll be like when
you step out on the first tee —
you just swing and go… deal with
what’s in front and adapt.
MS.DCG
Golf analogy… nice.
ANNIE
Which brings us to … golf
umbrellas… You didn’t think we’d
be able to pull off an event in
March without weather to contend
with, did you?
MS.DCG
But… there’s a moon lighting up
your kitchen right now, you mean…
ANNIE
Watson… the weather app says
we’re in for some wetness at party
time.
MS.DCG
For goodness sake!
ANNIE
Yes, and… we’re kinda working
that out too. First to let people
know to drive safe AND… we have
the room all day — so don’t rush.
The food will be available …
let’s just say 11:30 as we’ll be
busy serving soft drinks and
setting up.
MS.DCG
Like it!
ANNIE
Parking as you may recall for your
party is on the street.
Our plan is to cone off a drop-off
zone to make it easy to get into
The Clubhouse with minimum exposure
to the elements.
MS.DCG
Kind of like how you dropped me off
at exercise?
ANNIE
Exactly. BYOU— as Bring Your Own
Umbrella is encouraged, but we’ll
have some available and will
probably stage someone near the
door to assist.
MS.DCG
Inbound covered. Now for the exit?
ANNIE
Same thing. Leverage the loading
zone. Leverage umbrellas. And
we’ll drive anyone who needs
assistance.
MS.DCG
Again… very thoroughly thought
through. What haven’t I asked?
ANNIE
Plates to go… We will try to have
take out containers so people can
bring food home. And we’ll try to
make “plates” for those who can’t
make it over — like your care
givers who can’t break away from
their shifts.
MS.DCG
Great!
ANNIE
So, Boss, that’s a wrap! Gotta get
busy staging stuff to bring over to
Countrywood. You good?
MS.DCG
Yup!
ANNIE
Cool! We’ll do our best.
MS.DCG
Comforting as always. Thank you!
ANNIE
Our pleasure, Boss!
Thanks for reading!
