I Ran: Cape Cod Potato Chips & Singing Seagulls

Sam Thielman of Adweek did a write-up about the new ad for Cape Cod Potato Chips that features CGI seagulls singing the Flock of Seagulls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Flock_of_Seagulls) song, “I Ran (So Far Away).”

Very clever! Lots of images popped to mind.

Clearly East Coast gulls are a lot more fun to be around… hanging at the beach singing while this guy is enjoying his chips.

On the West Coast, especially in San Francisco, seagulls bring up… thoughts of AT&T Park in the late innings of a Giants baseball game.

[How do they know when the game is over?]

But back to the Cape Cod ad… I really like the song, so here it is below.

And I ran.
I ran so far away.
I just ran.
I ran all night and day.
I couldn’t get away…

Sure, it is a bit old school (1980s), but it had a revival in 2002 when Rockstar Games added it to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and included in the games official trailer.

Good work agency of record for Cape Cod Potato Chips, GKV, Baltimore!

And here is the ridiculously good ad with the seagulls:
