No-Show? Really??
The SPIN-the-WHEEL concept was an excellent idea based on how well it was embraced @TheSEA. However, in the context of SPIN to PICK-A-STORY? Well… During that particular session, it didn’t work out as planned.
The reason? Simply…a SECOND WHEEL NO-SHOW.
What happened?
Due to the AIR OF EXCITEMENT over the CAMPER CHEESE BEER SNACK BITES making their @TheSEA debut, the SECOND WHEEL became, dare we say a THIRD WHEEL?? For sure, picking a story path was FAR FAR away from the minds of those present that evening, so it actually worked out.
Now let’s listen in to find out WHAT. HAPPENED. NEXT.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. WESTSIDE BREW PUB – RC’S CORNER
The place is just about closed down. Standing close to the SPIN WHEEL is RC the STORYTELLER and KIMBA (Happy Barista/Driver) tidying up and talking about the evening.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
A winner!
RC THE STORYTELLER
The wheel?
Kimba shakes her head.
RC THE STORYTELLER
The CAMPER CHEESE BITES?
Kimba nods.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
Yes, and…
She points to the screen.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
Seems your audience REALLY likes CARTOONS… VINTAGE FLINTSTONES!?!
Just then, LADY KATIE, the former SUIT, arrives WAY late with the promised SECOND WHEEL.
KATIE
I’m SOOOOOOO Sorry Guys! At least… now you’ll have it for next time.
They watch her as she removes the PRIZE WHEEL and replaces it with her CHOOSE-A-STORY (aka SECOND WHEEL).
KATIE
See? It fits! And now…
She gives it a SPIN and… closes her eyes listening to the CLICK. CLICK. CLICK. of the WHEEL in MOTION. She smiles and looks over at RC and KIMBA.
KATIE
So? You like?
How’s that saying go? DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT?
RC THE STORYTELLER
How’s that saying go? DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT?
Kimba gently nudges him.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
Be nice! You had the opportunity to truly IMPROVISE this evening and … that whole SLABBY THING OG... DYNO-MITE!!
Kimba turned to a puzzled Katie and explained.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
After the group took turns spinning the PRIZE WHEEL, there was some murmuring– as folks wondered if a STORY would be happening that session. And then…
Kimba points to the screen.
RC THE STORYTELLER
I was… how they say… FLOP SWEATING? It wasn’t pretty — and then I looked over and an EPISODE of the FLINTSTONES was playing. How? No idea, right Kimba?
KIMBA THE DRIVER
Right! It just was. And so we all kind of settled into SEASON 1, EPISODE 1 and low and behold…
RC THE STORYTELLER
We were DING!ed by the sight of…
KIMBA THE DRIVER
The SLABBY THING! Fred looking for his SUNDAY PAPER gets clobbered by it when it finally gets delivered… and…
RC THE STORYTELLER
There he is… reading off a SLAB.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
And then… weird but, on my phone appeared a picture with a link — to the STEVE JOBS unveiling of the iPAD with another link to the announcement of the iPAD from 2010.
Steve meet Fred…
Kimba shows her phone and scrolls to the announcement with photos.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
See! New York Times. He’s reading the New York Times!
KATIE
Ah! Right. I remember the announcement and had FLINTSTONES embedded in the back of my brain. But to find the actual episode… That’s way cool!
RC THE STORYTELLER
Saved my butt. Now we still need to get a SPIN in so I know what’s what for next week’s session.
Just then, the worker Kimba gave the bagels to swung by.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
Hey there!
BREWPUB WORKER
Oh… Hey there back! Thanks so much for the BAGELRY goodies.
Kimba smiles.
BREWPUB WORKER
That CAMPER CHEESE version looked FANTASTIC. Will probably be an ASKED FOR item going forward.
Kimba points to Katie.
KIMBA THE DRIVER

KATIE
We might be able to coax him into some more SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCES… if the fish aren’t biting.
The worker gives Katie a quizzical look and Kimba immediately shifts gears.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
One more favor, this evening…
She points to the wheel.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
Give it a SPIN, please… like this…
Kimba tests the wheel.
BREWPUB WORKER
Me? Because?
KATIE
Because we need someone to help select the story path for the next @theSEA session. You’d be helping ME out… I MESSED UP — arrived too late for us to do it with a LIVE AUDIENCE.
KIMBA THE DRIVER
So, can we film you… Spinning the wheel?
KATIE
Internal use only… You’ll be our opener next session, right RC?
RC THE STORYTELLER
Ladies… That’s an excellent idea. LOVE IT!!
BREWPUB WORKER
Sure!
FADE OUT.
Only the sound of the WHEEL spinning and the BOOMBOX can be heard — and it is, again, playing the INSTRUMENTAL version of FLO-RIDA’s RIGHT ROUND.
