Her wish is our command…
Dolores C Goltra (AKA DCG), our super-active, super feisty 97-year old cousin passed away on 8 December. We had an interesting journey over the last 9 months: Starting with her fall in March 2024, to a lengthy stay at the Shadelands skilled nursing facility, to Residential Care, a couple more trips to the hospital, to Danville skilled nursing, to home (finally!!) in October with a full time caregiver. Life was good! She was getting stronger by the day with the help of an awesome support team from Muir Home Health guiding her recovery. Her caregivers sent me pictures of her meals -before and after shots- (Yum!). Healing foods plus a warm comfortable environment… Let’s just say, she was riding the Wave (a fantastical one at that) –as we often told each other.
We also had a pinky shake on “Go ’til you can go no more.”
She knew parts were wearing down. She was ready. Another trip to ER in November sealed the deal.
Which Brings us to…
She said, early and often, that she wanted to throw a party.
That was it.
Oh… and to make sure she was quite dead before they cremated (was a concern she reiterated with those sparkling blue eyes).
We talked about the party and it came to this:
Fajitas and Margaritas!!
That was her go-to “cheat” meal for her birthday and other special occasions.
[Her daily “cheat” was a scone with a strong cup of Peet’s coffee]
So sometime in the hopefully not so distant future, we’ll be able to announce when this party will happen.
We are in the two steps forward, three steps back in our Estate management duties. Frustrating but…
Our philosophy.

Appreciate your patience.
