Interesting Man, Uninteresting (or Memorable) Beer…

I just revisited a story by Barbara Lippert, an advertising critic for AdWeek, that talked about male-themed potential award winners at the Cannes ad festival. She pointed to: “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” for Old Spice, “The Most Interesting Man in the World” for Dos Equis and “The Man Who Walked Around the World” for Johnnie Walker.

The writing for “The Most Interesting Man in the World” is what I like.

Lippert wrote that the Dos Equis man (in ads from Euro RSCG) is believed my many to be “a cross between Hemingway and James Bond.”

A montage of the ads appear below.

One thing I found was that I was so interested in “the most interesting man” that I often forget which beer he’s talking about. In fact, until last weekend, I never saw or heard anyone order a Dos Equis beer.

The Hemingway thing I DO remember!
