RC at The SEA: Pt3-The Pickup - Ready for…

RC THE STORYTELLER bends the ear of Mr Squeek during their walk-feets excursion to THE WHARF. Does he get “Buy-in”? Read on! —The Gang

Ready For This ??

Where we last left off, RC THE STORYTELLER had talked his way into an extended “walk-feets” with MR SQUEEK (AKA SPECIAL AGENT SQUEEK) to the WHARF for a pickup.

Let’s pick up the story and see where it takes us (literally)…

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. STREETS OF SANTA CRUZ

During this long excursion, RC talked and Mr Squeek made opportunities to repeat back what he heard, to make sure he understood.
This back-and-forth went on and on, until they finally were silent — walking together yet alone with their own thoughts.

They found themselves magically drawn to music emanating from THE WHARF.

And after a short bit, they start to make out the words of the song.

RC is looking down smiling.

WHARF MUSIC
…I’m Ready for this, there’s no denying.
I’m ready for this, you stop me falling.
I’m ready for this, I need you all in.
I’m ready for this, so darling hold my hand…

Mr Squeek, acknowledging the lyrics, smiles too. They stop and look at each other.

RC THE STORYTELLER
What?

MR SQUEEK
What?

RC THE STORYTELLER
You go first.

MR SQUEEK
You go!

RC THE STORYTELLER
Fine. Okay… So after my HomeStay with Kee-Ra, I hung out at JEDEMI waiting for a lift over the hill… and THIS (!) was the song I heard… on the speakers outside the cafe…

MR SQUEEK
Ah… interesting.

RC THE STORYTELLER
And you?

MR SQUEEK
Well… it was on Ms Katie’s SPOTIFY discovery playlist… while she was working on… the DING!THING…

RC THE STORYTELLER
Well… Guess there’s NO denying…

MR SQUEEK
Ya know… Theme song, yes. It fits but also… In my ears, I hear it as the roll credits -slash-closing song for your FINN-FINN series @theSEA…

RC THE STORYTELLER
And the start of the DING!HAPPENS series… READY FOR THIS!

MR SQUEEK
Like it…plays off… words they’ve already experienced… the “Ya’ll Ready For This…” too.

RC THE STORYTELLER
Similar… but… yeah, a nice segue from DUCKIN’ TALES… Didn’t connect it but… it’s there!

They have now reached Mr Squeek’s destination. The music is not longer playing.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. HUMBLE SEA AT THE WHARF

RC follows Mr Squeek as he squeezes through the chain-linked fence and starts wandering around.

RC THE STORYTELLER
Uh… What or Who are we looking for?

MR SQUEEK
It was… a pickup…something I had to … or… should be…

RC THE STORYTELLER
A pickup? Here?

MR SQUEEK
Yeah… On a napkin. A message… But… it’s in my PAK with Katie. I had her take it with her… Back home so I could, you know, move about more freely…

RC THE STORYTELLER
Okay… so let ME get this straight. It’s a pickup of some sort … but…

Just then, a voice pipes up.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Pickup is supposed to be at Beach and Pacific… Why you guys way up here?

RC and Mr Squeek look at her and shake their heads.

RC THE STORYTELLER
You?

MR SQUEEK
Pickup? Like…

They both pretend they have a steering wheel in their hands — moving left to right.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Got a message to bring some folks back from the WHARF… A guy at TheSEA handed me a…

MR SQUEEK
Napkin? Was it a napkin? Can I see it?

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Actually no. I would if I could, but… had the window open and it blew away.
Just guessin’ you guys ARE the PICKUP as I haven’t seen anyone else around.

She motions towards where she’s parked.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Your chariot awaits.

So they walk (or rather drag themselves) towards Kimba’s UBER MOBILE.

After piling in, Kimba gently guides the vehicle towards the WESTSIDE while bantering away.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
We’re reaching cruising altitude, my friends… Now how about catching me up on that day of yours.
What have you guys been up to?

She keeps talking.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Yeah… It’s okay if you don’t want to share or whatever…

There’s no response. Pulling up to the stop light, she waits a beat before speaking up again.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Don’t tell me… The Ca…

Before she let loose with that phrase that Mr Squeek hates, she turns around to check on her passengers.

KIMBA THE DRIVER
Hang on… Ah… That’s so cute. They pooped out.

The light changes and she focuses on the drive. As she gets a little further down the road, she puts on her SPOTIFY and let’s it play at a low volume.

FADE OUT.

And that, my friends, is how the LP-GANG, AKA PAK-PATROL, AKA PAK-PINS) and the EYE-IN-THE-SKY, ZUP, managed to get the players on the same page for the DING!THING mission.
