Note: The “Discovery” is both Meredith’s AND Nicole’s and while organizing Viv’s old office, Nicole “discovers” a box of books that also includes printouts of THE JEDEMI CHRONICLES.

She texts Viv who suggests that a LENDING LIBRARY, be set up at JEDEMI for the books and to hold onto the Chronicles as they can be read at the cafe — sort of like a REFERENCE SECTION of a Library. Read in place.

FADE IN:

INT. JEDEMI CAFE

The Cafe’s OWNER, NICOLE has just left the building with KEE-RA the HAPPY PUPPY to set him up on the stoop where he can kickback and relax in the sunshine.

RC THE STORYTELLER is following close behind. He had fist-bumped Ms KATIE, the FORMER SUIT, on the way. She nodded without missing a beat of what table-mate, Ms MEREDITH (AKA KEE-RA’s HUMAN) was saying.

Meredith is motioning towards the contents on the table.

MEREDITH
The JOURNAL is… an amazing invention…

Katie smiles as Meredith continues.

MEREDITH
And who knew this… this mechanical pencil would be so… comforting? Fits like a glove and the FLO… It’s so fun to just … to an outsider I suppose, it’s scribbling, but you got it right… all ‘bout the FLO!

Holding her Journal up, Meredith announces.

MEREDITH
See! Nearly full. Next time. Please.

The Essential Journal…

KATIE
For sure. Please make a note to Text me a reminder in case, you know…

MEREDITH
Oh… I know. Slip the mind, it can…

She laughs.

KATIE
So you’re diggin’ the Pentel Twist-Erase?

MEREDITH
That’s what it is? I just know the lead-on-paper flo is smooth.

KATIE
I’ve been playing around with a SUMO-GRIP which is also a .7 from Japan. Slightly thicker in the barrel. Maybe…

Essential Pencils…

MEREDITH
Actually, I’m good with this. Thanks though.

As they are talking, Nicole is rolling by with a cart containing books on its lower shelf and some regular-paper-sized (8 1/2 x 11) comb-bound documents.

KATIE
Looks like a dessert tray the way she’s moving it.

MEREDITH
Maybe it is! I’m going to take a look.

KATIE
And I’m going wash up before heading back over the hill.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. JEDEMI CAFE – THE ANNEX

Meredith has moved to the ANNEX portion of the cafe where the new owner, Nicole has positioned the rolling cart not far from the VIV TABLE (donated by previous owner and assembled by Ms Katie).

MEREDITH
Hey there. Thanks again for setting us up with the best beverages ever and… for getting Kee-Ra settled down for his kickback time.

NICOLE
My pleasure. Oh… it looked like you had yourself a nice session there while they were doing Creek Trail.

MEREDITH
Yeah. I guess if I can’t participate (points to bum ankle), I can at least make use of the time to re-calibrate… AWC.

NICOLE
AW what?

MEREDITH
AWAY FROM CLIENTS… AWC…

She laughs and has a relaxed demeanor.

Workin’ the Magic…

NICOLE
Gotcha!

Nicole notices Meredith looking intently at the documents on top of the cart.

NICOLE
Go ahead. Take a look. The ones on top… Viv said stay here … like in a reference library. The bottom shelf are lenders.
Go for it!

She then motions towards the counter where there are some customers queuing up. Meredith nods.

On her way to the counter, Nicole notices that Katie is looking for Meredith and points to the Annex. Looking at her watch, she moves in Meredith’s direction just as the sound of the PAK alarm goes off.

Meredith hears it and hustles back. Full smiles.

KATIE
A discovery you made?

MEREDITH
I think so, yes… Now let’s get you on your way.

With that they pack up and head outside to the stoop to retrieve Kee-Ra.
