Welcome to another Yosh! post!
FRANNIE and DOSSIE, JEDEMI regulars, have been discussing “The wRiting-R” challenge of the DragonBustR daily ritual. Drilling down, the ideas they bounce off each other JUST. MIGHT. WORK. Read on to learn more! —The Gang
Note: We introduced “Yosh” in the post.
The Japanese word “Yosh” is used in manga to convey, “Alright, let’s go!” Or as they say in Katie’s household: “Go means go!”
Above is a short clip that says what we’re saying (and demonstrating): For sure, “yosh” is spontaneous and energetic—a verbal burst of enthusiasm or resolve. We believe if you embrace the DragonBustR Way and it becomes a Way of Life (interwoven), you may find yourself bursting with enthusiasm and resolve.
Now on with the story!
MUSINGS R ESSENTIAL – Overcoming Preconceived Notions…

FADE IN:
INT. JEDEMI CAFE – ABOVE
While LP REGULARS, FRANNIE and DOSSIE, while monitoring activity from above the JEDEMI cafe, have gotten into a discussion about THE JOURNAL and MORNING MUSINGS.
Dossie pointed out another page in her JOURNAL with her and has set it down to show a sketch to Frannie. They talk 1-2, but there’s more…
FRANNIE
So, MUSINGS are essential. The story must be told. Got it. Now circling back… can we delve into that 1-2 thing?
DOSSIE
Sure! So far, 1-2 could be perceived as JOURNAL + TIMER… You free-FLO write … pencil-to-paper for a disciplined period of time: 20 minutes to start.
FRANNIE
Makes sense… But I sense… there’s another 1-2 you’re referring to… there’s more, yes?
Dossie nods.
DOSSIE
Had a hand slap to forehead moment…
FRANNIE
The V-8 thing?
DOSSIE
Yup! So… pencil-IN-hand doesn’t mean JUST writing… DRAWING too! Sketch away! Nobody is critiquing your sketches — they are another way of…
FRANNIE
OMG! Another way to continue the FLO… Of course! I’ve been doing that forever it seems. Got me out of a lot of trouble too — as I could release all the things I wanted to say via my doodlings and then – I wasn’t wound up anymore. Moved on.
It worked so well that when I’d see the person that frustrated me, I was able to smile and be… nice.
They pause as though envisioning how they’ve leveraged drawings and writings to diffuse situations
DOSSIE
You’re seeing what I’m seeing. And really… dRawing should be in the mix — as the second-R… (a) and (b)… a 1-2!
Dossie points again to a page from her Journal.
FRANNIE
So there’s a BONUS-R in the mix?
DOSSIE
It’s essential to get the word out that MUSINGS ARE… wRiting & dRawing... So YES… a BONUS-R.
…dRaw first and write around the drawings…
FRANNIE
That BONUS-R, could be a playful lead-in… dRaw first and write around the drawings… the sketches…
DOSSIE
Indeed. Slays another DRAGON… the one conjured up when people think about writing…
FRANNIE
THINKing gets them in trouble. They get BLOCK because… editing… they edit themselves…
DOSSIE
That whole stream of conscious can’t happen… doesn’t happen if they… are doing it like a homework or classwork assignment.
FRANNIE
Thus MUSINGS!
Like DoorKat wandering for your mind!
DOSSIE
Facilitating the FLO… Absolutely.
FRANNIE
Got it. Like it…
They look back at the blackboard.
FRANNIE
So we’ve addressed #1 as pencil to paper… the feel CAN-NOT be done online… Feeling the pencil in your hand…
DOSSIE
Feeling the lead glide across the paper…
Which reminds me… I want to talk to you about writing implements.
FRANNIE
Gotcha!
They both pause to ponder…
FRANNIE
You know… I’m liking this drawing addition for unleashing creativity. For sure, freehand blows away “Do it online” … too rigid with too many parameters. What you’re proposing really opens up the FLO!
DOSSIE
I’m thinking, too, that it gets you operating in a different world… transcending the day-to-day.
FRANNIE
Like an escape…
They look back at the board and cross out the second item
DOSSIE
Addressed with KATIE’S TIMER, agreed?
FRANNIE
Yes, if… and big IF… we can get the first step taken… to sit down and write.
DOSSIE
Standing is okay too. I’ve seen writing at stander tables.
FRANNIE
Of course — it’s taking a break from DOING … and.. making time to…
DOSSIE
MUSE… Let the MUSINGS Flo!
FRANNIE
Right! Free-FLO MUSINGS!
They pause again.
FRANNIE
We posted on it last year… about making time.
DOSSIE
Indeed… Nice smoke break drawing you came up with!
They laugh and then continue.
DOSSIE
I’ve observed… MORNINGS primarily with Ms KATIE.
FRANNIE
That’s right… setting the tone for the day. She started by waking up earlier… like 20-30 minutes earlier…
DOSSIE
That’s a DRAGON for most…
FRANNIE
Katie just got herself to go to bed 20-30 minutes earlier — loss of sleep … Sleep was a non-issue.
DOSSIE
Again… that’s a DRAGON…
FRANNIE
But do-able! She did it.
There’s a pause… Actually a longer than usual pause. Dossie scribbles something on a Post-It Note which she stashes aside.
DOSSIE
Sorry ’bout that. Now where were we??
FRANNIE
Striking though the push-backs on the BLACKBOARD.
DOSSIE
As for that third item, maybe RC THE GREMLIN can provide some insight. Katie has been doing this for a long time. She must have figured it out…
FRANNIE
Noted. I believe this is OUR pencil’s down moment.
DOSSIE
Sure! Good call! Let’s … incubate on this a bit… See if we still like it after a while…
FRANNIE
Good call!
She pauses and then continues.
FRANNIE
I hear THE STOOP calling. Fresh air for us, yes?
Without hesitation they take off leaving the BLACKBOARD as is.
And, within mere minutes, a refreshed JOEY arrives. Bursting in. Speaking before looking as he is energized from his DRAGONBALL encounter.
JOEY
Hey, ladies! You’ll never guess…
He looks around and realizes that they aren’t there.
JOEY
Oh well.
Then, noticing the BLACKBOARD, he smiles.
JOEY
Aha! Looks like they’ve been busy too.
