The day after RC the Storyteller’s @TheSEA session, which had an extensive WRAP PARTY (celebrating the HAPPY ENDING — conclusion of the HOUDINI HOUND/FINN-FINN story), former Suit Ms KATIE, made her way to the WESTSIDE CAT & CLOUD to do some writing AND “scratch an itch.”

Katie arrives with a buddy this time. She walks up to the counter looking for her pal, KIMBERLY THE BARISTA / KIMBA THE UBER DRIVER and then goes ahead and orders. Grabbing her cup and treats, she and her buddy make their way to the VIV TABLE.
KATIE
See, Buddy? Just like home.
Her “buddy” is none other than TRAIL PAL, KEE-RA. The Happy Puppy from her JEDEMI CAFE ventures who is doing a HOME STAY with Katie and her husband, GEAR GUY, while his human, MEREDITH is out of town on business.
KEE-RA
Yeah… Real nice. Great option for you… TREATS really nice too. No STOOP tho…
KATIE
Yeah, well… just behave and we shouldn’t get kicked out.
Kee-Ra settles into his treat while Katie starts writing away.
KATIE INNER
Gotta capture my thoughts and then I can put together the UPDATE message to MER… Let’s call it…
She scribbles something in the margin of her JOURNAL: WHAT’D MISS’D… Starts her musings and then jumps back over to add the word DISPATCH… Smiling, she goes back to her FLO.
KATIE’S MUSINGS
Last night was fantastico! The audience… folks who’ve been coming weekly to hear the Foster Pup story… they were enraptured-captured… ALL IN… and ENGAGED.
I had a feeling that the night was gonna be a good night… For sure, a good good night…
She laughs to herself as she write the lyrics (modified of course) to a BLACK EYED PEAS song.
KATIE INNER
Come to think of it, that should have been the opening song…. Nah, too leading. Better to have them draw that conclusion… But speaking of songs…
Katie checks on Kee-Ra.
KATIE
Like it here? Good, right Buddy?
KEE-RA
For a CAT place, yeah… surprising good.
KATIE
Watch it… MR SQUEEK… won’t take kindly to…
KEE-RA
Come on now. Just kidding…
His eyes scan the doorway and then back to the order counter.
There she is. Questions you have, yes?
KEE-RA

Katie looks over and smiles.
KATIE
Yup!
She points to the yellow lined pad of paper next to her JOURNAL.
KATIE
Been writing down from memory… The songs… But if KIMBA can give me the SPOTIFY link, then…
KEE-RA
Mama will …
KATIE
Have a… more… extensive… er… thorough update of… Well… Let’s just say, even if she missed, she didn’t miss, got it?
She tips her Journal up to show him her IDEA… THE WHAT’D MISS’D DISPATCH..
KEE-RA
DISPATCH, eh? DISH… might could work… tho…
KATIE
Ah… Now serving! THE WHAT’D I MISS’D DISH… Or perhaps… WHAT. MISSED. DISH. Very WHAT. COMES. NEXT -like. You may be onto something. Will ponder.
He nods.
KEE-RA
Anyway… Great plan, Lady Katie.
KATIE
Lady Katie?? You’ve never…
KEE-RA
Picked it up from Gear Guy… Kinda like it. You don’t mind…?
Just then pal, Kimba walks over with a WIPIE bar towel clothes-pinned to her APRON, which doesn’t escape Kee-Ra’s eye. He gives her a PAWS-UP. She smiles
KIMBA
Hey, guys! Sorry ‘bout…
She points to the back.
KIMBA
Deliveries to check in and…
Kee-Ra is shaking his head and Katie speaks up.
KATIE
So you’re apologizing for doing your job? Really?? Come on, now.
Still shaking his head… Katie offers a fist bump before rushing into her question, while handing over her phone.
KATIE
Before I forget… Can you load up the playlist from last night? I couldn’t remember the songs… just the reaction… folks were having a blast… and… the impromptu SING-A-LONG… that was amazing.
Katie notices a confused look on Kimba’s face. Kimba looks a Katie and then back at Kee-Ra…
KIMBA
Uh… Weird, but… I thought it was your doing… the songs… from that… Weren’t you gifted a song list of some sort through your SUN ROOF one day at JEDEMI? Thought YOU figured out how to GET them from LIST to SPOTIFY… No???
Kee-Ra is shaking his head “NO” and so is Katie.
He also sees the clothespin on Kimba’s apron has disappeared and is now laughing.
KIMBA
What’s so funny, Buddy?
KATIE
Yeah, Buddy… Want to share with the class?
Rather than answer, Kee-Ra eyes the front door.
KATIE
Let me… take him out into the sun. You keep doing your job. We can talk after your shift.
KIMBA
Cool. Up for a RIDE-ALONG?
KATIE
Yeah, sure!
She let’s Kee-Ra tug her to the entrance. Attaching the leash to a nearby rail, she motions back inside.
KATIE
Be right back. Grab my stuff and… will join ya. Sun will do both of us some good.
As soon as she leaves, Kee-Ra is bumped… TWICE!
Looking side-to-side, he laughs.
[His pals, RC THE STORYTELLER and MR SQUEEK have just arrived]
KEE-RA
You guys… Carried on… ALL NIGHT LONG, eh?
RC THE STORYTELLER
Wish you were there…
MR SQUEEK
Well… the KARAOKE … Brilliant way to close out the evening.

Mr Squeek and RC give each other a knowing look.

That… would be us… Going into town… She promised… After her shift.

Cool! Then yes… I believe the STARS are aligning and I WILL be hanging with you..

And with that, those two trot away. Katie notices Kee-Ra waving in the direction of THE SEA.

She pulls out her yellow lined pad and jots: #WhatMissed

It appears the RIDE-ALONG’s stop included a visit to… yet another CAFE -the favourite of MR SQUEEK (AKA DOORKAT/WONDERKAT/WANDERKAT). Both he and RC the STORYTELLER want to expose HAPPY PUPPY KEE-RA to the joys of the POUR-OVER.

See! A different sort of coffee beverage here… FRESH BEANs get the… SLO-GOOD! Treatment.
KEE-RA
Ah… interesting? Drink this do you?

Before he could finish his sentence, the Roaster Guy comes back with two more cups of CINNAMONY FOAMY GOODNESS. Now they all settle in to enjoy.
Just outside the window of the ROASTER are KATIE and KIMBA.
KATIE
Shall we?
KIMBA
Surely!
They cross the portal and put their things down within eye-sight of THE BOYS.
KATIE
Let’s leave ‘em be…
Kimba nods as she opens up her FIND from COMICOPOLIS. Katie has a LAY-FLAT, in her hand — having just extracted it from her SATCHEL-PAK, which she places on the table.
KATIE
You’re probably coffee’d out, but..
KIMBA
Let’s… Split one…
Something catches Katie’s eye and she points. Kimba looks and smiles. All three of THE BOYS have looked up and all three are sporting identical FOAMY milk mustaches.
KATIE
That IS HILARIOUS…
KIMBA
Right?
Better memorize my eyes… draw later…
KATIE

KIMBA
Good call… PRICELESS!
They place their order and then look back over, but THE BOYS are gone.
KATIE
Did we scare them away?
KIMBA
Wanderer ‘sgot to wander. They have several stops. That’s my understanding anyway… Will text me for a ride back …
Katie nods and points back to their table.
KATIE
Got an idea…
They return with their POUR-OVERS and…

The ladies are chatting away. Empty POUR-OVER cups nearby. Both have their SLABBY THINGs out and are sketching away and SHOWING THEIR WORK…
Kimba’s phone VIBRATES… and then VIBRATES again.

Katie reaches over, gives it a glance, and then smiling, hands it to KIMBA.
KATIE
Perhaps the boys are ready for their pickup now…
KIMBA

Pointing outside where daylight is fading…
KATIE
Guess WE lost track of time…
Kimba stands up and starts to pack up.
KATIE
Hang on, Chica! Check your messages first.
SQUEEK-TEXT
Hanging at WOODSTOCK. Found RIDE BACK. All Good!
Laughing, she shows Katie the message.
KATIE
How is he… ?
KIMBA
I think he charms people into letting him borrow their phone. Got my number memorized.
KATIE
Interesting…
KIMBA
It is getting kinda late. I’ll run you back and tidy up before I kick into official Side Hustle, UBER MODE.
Katie nods with a huge smile on her face. She fist bumps Kimba.
