Leaping’ Lizards! It’s preconceived emoticons! The big news of the week was the adding of “five new reaction” options for Facebook posts. You now have the opportunity to move beyond the thumbs up + comment, to express “Love”, “Haha”, “Wow”, “Sad” and “Angry”.
We really liked Johanna Stern’s piece in The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) which included a couple of options that we’d vote up.
There’s a “What the…? and Ugh!
By the way, we noticed that Stern’s post was shared on Facebook close to 13,000 times. It would take some digging to see which emoticon was the most chosen reaction to this piece.
Best Picture Nominees get the Emoticon Treatment:
The next day in the WSJ, they did an Emoticon piece for the Oscars that was kind of cute. The weird thing is that I can’t link to the print version. There’s a video which could only be found by searching Emoji.
Note and Warning — hit the mute button. All WSJ videos slam you with an toll keeper ad before you can see what you came for. So freakin’ annoying. We don’t mind supporting advertising when its relevant. But do mind big time when the ad blocks us from getting where we want to go.

>> WOW! The San Francisco Chronicle ran a piece on NBA MVP, Steph Curry’s shot evolution that was pretty cool.
>> Leapin’ Monday!!
Tomorrow is the rare 29th of February — a Leap Day that comes around every four years —Leap years are those years divisible by 4, except for century years whose number is not divisible by 400 (think Summer Olympics and you’ll be spot on.). To us, it seems to be an excuse to hold a sale as email pushes got a bit overwhelming.
It’s too late now, but perhaps the next time Leap Day rolls around, we can do an Indiana Jones Last Crusade — Leap of Faith promo.
You may recall from the movie, there is a scene where Indy (Harrison Ford) enters the area and doesn’t see a pathway. He takes a step (or a leap of faith) and lands on the “invisible” bridge and we, as viewers, can now see the stone bridge. He throws sand on it to make the pathway visible.
He closes his eyes, makes up his mind, and goes for it. What will be will be.
Taking a leap can be as simple as trying something you don’t have “all figured out” but your gut says, “go for it.” Worth a shot!
Song of the Week – Mariah Carey Emotions
We had another song picked and then this one ear-wormed its way in. The lyrics, no doubt fit our post this week.
You’ve got me feeling emotions
Deeper than I’ve ever dreamed of
You’ve got me feeling emotions
Higher than the heavens above…
Stay curious (#SCMF) and may the Jedemi Force be with you!
