What’s this? A Somerset Maugham “The Razor’s Edge reference in the front of Saturday’s Sporting Green (SF Chronicle)? Did we see correctly?

Yes, indeed! One of the sportswriters we absolutely heart around here, the Chronicle’s Scott Ostler referred to Golden State Warrior player named David West as “

…the NBA version of Larry Darrell, the American pilot in the W. Somerset Maugham novel “The Razor’s Edge,” who travels the world searching for the transcendent meaning of life.

Love the movie and the book — and wondered if anyone else noticed the reference.

AWSI, this is a classic example why you should spend more time reading instead of just scanning. There could be nuggets of awesomeness that you’d miss. Plus, these types of stories are enlightening and inspiring— something we all could use.
