The quest for segue magic continues. This time, RC is fully aware that the @TheSEA folks are READY (YOSH! RC YOSH!–Let’s Go!) for the HOUDINI HOUND story to advance to its final conclusion. Seems that Pupmares will play a role… — The Gang
Ready For This ?? Let’s Go!!
RC THE STORYTELLER, has reached out to former SUIT Ms. KATIE for help with making the HOUDINI HOUND STORY presentable for the @TheSEA attendees. And, she has been wracking her brain as she considers things like: The GIFTED song list (via Sting-Clasped ENVELOPE dropped through her sunroof).
Of course, not one to ponder in place, she decided on her usual approach — leveraging movement (Her THINKING usually requires LOTS OF movement).
With gifted songs incubating, she takes off OVER-THE-HILL for her WEEKLY MEETUP with Happy Puppy KEE-RA.
[NOTE: They’ve kept up their ROUTINE, while his Human, MEREDITH does a drive about in the FOSTER JEEP as her way of connecting with NATURE.
Let’s act like the JOBY DRONE that Sup (aka ST.X) is piloting and follow along…]
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. CREEK TRAIL
Katie and workout pal, KEE-RA are doing their usual routine, where outbound is like a carefree romp. And then, after topping the “ROCKY HILL” they work their way back while also discussing a variety of subjects.
KEE-RA
So how’s the scripting for RC going? Things shaping up?
KATIE
The writing flows… I can see the story… The neighborhood… YOUR neighborhood. The people on the street. I have a sense of place. I also have a sense of what happens and in what order, but…
Kee-Ra had been sniffing around and then stops to give her full attention.
KATIE
The challenge is to transform this amazing story by MRS POLLARD into something more like a NETFLIX limited series… At least that was the advice given to me by
MR SQUEEK…
The OG Title Page…
He lets her keep flowing with her thoughts.
…there was something MORE… Something INVISIBLE to the EYES er EARS…
KATIE
I figured that if Mr Squeek was so HOT to tell this story… there was something MORE… Something INVISIBLE to the EYES er EARS… Otherwise, why not just invite the author to TheSEA to do a READING… right?
They walk along while Katie continues to explain her challenges.
KEE-RA
Yes, and…
KATIE
You’re the one who got me thinking … DING!Thing. And… I like… well… let’s just say incorporating aspects of DING! That’s the kind of magical ELIXAR stuff that’s… legendary when pondering HERO’S JOURNEYs…
Happens
KEE-RA
But you don’t want to force it… It needs to flow organically like it was already there … to be discovered… at least, that’s the feeling…
KATIE
Funny but, that is EXACTLY where my head was at… when I was pondering this… Perhaps we…
She points to him and then herself, followed by the thumb to the top of the head, with pinky extended to the sky…
KATIE
DING!ed ourselves, eh?
He nods and picks up the pace, which gets her doing a light jog.
KATIE
Uh… Buddy?
He turns around and looks at her quizzically.
KEE-RA
You weren’t done?
Katie laughs…
KATIE
Yeah… No… You see… My brain kinda made a leap after I started… visualizing behind the scenes at the NIWASHI’s place.
As the FOSTER MAMA … she knows her relationship is transitional and she’s cool with it accepts it…because she lives and breathes CIRCLE OF LIFE with her gardening business…
KEE-RA
Go on…
KATIE
Yet… Somehow, I sense much conflict.
As indicated in the original story, she couldn’t just drive away… empathy for the creature and… those in the surroundings… like the owner of the meetup spot.
So the compromise… Taking on FOSTERing duties gifts a temporary solution for all, but gradually, puts a strain on her home life… Which ripples, right? She’s got family and her clients and … those live goods which will become family for someone…
This empathy… well, is like a catalyst… which prods her to keep on searching for a proper home for that puppy.
She reaches into her PAK and pulls out her water bottle to take a swig. Motioning to him with the bottle, he shakes his head.
KEE-RA
I can… I WILL wait until… I hit the stoop. Now… What’d you have in mind? Or rather, have you got something worked out in that creative mind of yours?
KATIE
You could tell, huh… Hear me out though… I’m kicking around PUPMARES…
He hits the brakes and turns to look her in the eyes.
KEE-RA
Did you just say…?
KATIE
Pupmares! Similar to… when I was a FULL TIME SUIT, workmares were a thing. So…
KEE-RA
So…
KATIE
I told you I was magically GIFTED a song list… via my SUN ROOF … and… well, I’m kinda seeing… er… hearing the songs performed
karaoke-style by HOUDINI HOUND.
KEE-RA
So it’s like a ZOEY thing?
Katie laughs as she sees the reference in her eyes.
KATIE
Sorta. Kinda. Yeah. You know Zoey because…?
KEE-RA
Me and Mama caught a few episodes…
They walk along a bit and then Kee-Ra pipes up.
KEE-RA
Just to be clear… KARAOKE HOUND is a figure of THE NIWASHI’S imagination… something she’s conjured up, right?
KATIE
And you’re saying that because…
KEE-RA
Because… You know… you humans… tend to… overthink things. Not only that… you’ve got imaginations that runs wild… often times… And NOT in a good way…
KATIE
I know… Creating a block… Sometimes generating a monster-sized boulder…
KEE-RA
Or like a DRAGON the size of Godzilla…
Katie stops and looks at Kee-Ra who nods.
KEE-RA
I’m right, right?
KATIE
Right, right you are, my friend.
KEE-RA
First of all… This idea… of Pup-mares isn’t far fetched.
KATIE
Oh?
KEE-RA
He told me about …
He looks up and sees they’ve arrived at the trail head.
KEE-RA
We’re here so… Let me just say, you are on the RIGHT PATH, kiddo!
KATIE
Really?
KEE-RA
I’m impressed… Whatever you create will be FANTASTICO…
Confidence booster…
She’s all smiles, bowing with fist in palm motion. Kee-Ra nods.
KATIE
Look! There’s your Mama in that very fine JEEP. You better run along…
Mama arrives…
