Mr Pete can identify with Michael J Fox who is a source of inspiration. When it comes to the topic of COURAGE, we ALL can benefit. Enjoy this heartfelt WowMe! —the editor
Courage, the spark of inspiration without the shadows cast by fear.
The Soul’s burning desire to dance with danger and no matter what reality presents, feeling somewhat victorious.
You can be a realist and optimist at the same time. It’s about accepting and surrendering…
When you accept it, you start to see the other things in your life you’re grateful for…
You start with things you are grateful for and gratitude will feed your optimism.
Courage is a blessing to have but a curse to live with…
The will to desire, but a madness to escape from.
It helps to have a warped sense of Humor… Take a look!
Somewhere, sometime, during our brief existence on this mortal coil, may you be gifted with a bout of courage.-Mr Pete
Worth repeating: Somewhere, sometime, during our brief existence on this mortal coil, may you be gifted with a bout of courage.
Please Feel free to share it, celebrate it AND bless its grace onto others.
Why This Resonates…
I pressed Mr Pete about this. Challenged him to provide a courage story of his own. This is what he wrote. -the editor
In October 2012 I suffered a STROKE. Before I attempted intense physical rehab my body had to adjust/rest/recover a few months in a nursing home. My mind was not prepared for the challenge. My Family were my Guardian Angels.
Brother Paul drove my Mom and Dad to visit me every week.
Mom baked cookies for the nursing staff and often brought magazines from the free subscriptions I had got her.
Paul would remind me that I was not on vacation. I had one job to do (Get Well).
I had one job to do (Get Well).
When the Nursing Home Director cut off my physical rehab because my medicare ran out Paul CHALLENGED him and MADE things Right.
My Dad a WW2 vet would tell me stories on how his Mom and Sister would pray to Saint Therese for his safe return from War.
At the end of each visit he would grab my hand and hold it firmly and calmly state “You are a Gladue and You will walk again”.
You are a Gladue and You will walk again.
He was right. I now walk with a cane. The brain damage I encounter from this has manifested itself into Parkinsonism.
I’m scared but I’m alive. I wake up every morning and reflect on the graces that were bestowed on me.
I have ACCEPTED the challenges of life.
Some Days are hard
Some Nights are not easy
I gather my strength through the words and actions of others.
I AM NOT ALONE
That shared experience fuels my Courage.
It burns in my soul.
It justified my existence.
WOW!!
Love ya Mr Pete!! –the editor
EXTRA!! Pondering Courage…
Notable Quotables – Rollo May
Courage is not the absence of despair; it is, rather, the capacity to move ahead in spite of despair…
“Many people feel they are powerless to do anything effective with their lives.
It takes courage to break out of the settled mold, but most find conformity more comfortable.
This is why the opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it’s conformity.”
“The acorn becomes an oak by means of automatic growth; no commitment is necessary.
The kitten similarly becomes a cat on the basis of instinct. Nature and being are identical in creatures like them.
But a man or woman becomes fully human only by his or her choices and his or her commitment to them.
People attain worth and dignity by the multitude of decisions they make from day by day.
These decisions require courage.”
“Creative people, as I see them, are distinguished by the fact that they can live with anxiety, even though a high price may be paid in terms of insecurity, sensitivity, and defenselessness for the gift of the “divine madness” to borrow the term used by the classical Greeks. They do not run away from non-being, but by encountering and wrestling with it, force it to produce being. They knock on silence for an answering music; they pursue meaninglessness until they can force it to mean.”
Lastly, let’s look at the definition of Courage in French:
le courage masculine noun) defines the ability to face danger, difficulty, pain, or fear.
Rooted in cœur (heart), it signifies inner strength, fortitude, and resilience rather than just physical bravery.
And there’s more! I’d like to wrap by circling back to the beginning. Rewinding almost 5 (five!!) years ago, a post by Mr Pete with an emphasis on GRATITUDE. -the editor
