EXT. CAT & CLOUD

Happy Barista KIMBERLY (KIMBA) is walking to her car after her shift. The GIFTED STRING-PAK is slung over one shoulder and has a little bit of a bulge as the GIFTED JOURNAL is making its presence felt.

DISSOLVE TO:
INT. THE KIMBA MOBILE

Flinging the PAK onto the passenger seat, she starts her car and makes some adjustments– opening the sun roof, lowering windows for fresh air.
Then she turns on her car’s stereo and a Spotify Mix starts playing automatically:

GAP BAND – YOU DROPPED A BOMB ON ME…

She’s bouncing to the beat and then the PAK catches her eye.

KIMBERLY
Right? Good idea!!

Reaching into her back seat she grabs an empty Zojirushi Thermos (with the Mr Wolf sticker) and runs back inside.

I solve problems…

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. CAT & CLOUD

Approaching the counter, she shouts to her co-worker.

KIMBERLY
Yo! Don’t dump that yet… Please…

CO-WORKER
Oh… It’s you. Never can say good-bye, eh?

She points to her Thermos and he nods for her to help herself.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. THE KIMBA MOBILE

She is smiling as she’s driving along listening to her SPOTIFY (FANTASTIC VOYAGE).

SPOTIFY

There’s a party over there, that ain’t no jive

Don’t even have to walk, don’t even have to drive
Just slide, glide, slip pity-slide

Now she’s in full CAR KARAOKE mode, singing along…

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. PARKING LOT AT KIMBERLY’S PLACE

With the Uh-Huh, she has arrived home. Parking she runs inside and then quickly returns to grab her THERMOS.

KIMBERLY
I’m gonna need that!

FADE OUT.

INT. KIMBERLY’S PLACE

We pick up the action in the middle of the night (er… ACTUALLY early morning) where… MUSIC seemingly shakes KIMBERLY from her sleep.

THE TIME (MORRIS DAY)
Girl, I’ve been watching you…
I think I wanna know ya (know ya)
I said I, I’m a little dangerous
Girl I I’d love to show ya (show ya)…

We see Kimberly slide out of bed to follow the sound.

WHAT KIMBERLY HEARS
My JOURNAL love yeah
(oh we oh we oh)
I think I wanna know ya (Know ya)
Oh JOURNAL love, yes
(oh we oh we oh)
Girl I need to show ya (Show ya)

My JOURNAL love (oh we oh we oh)
I think I wanna i think i wanna (Know ya)
(oh we oh we oh)

The sound pulls her into the kitchen, where she sees movement on her table– which so happens to be where she left her STRING-PAK and newly gifted JOURNAL.
Rubbing her eyes, she’s studying the table closely.

KIMBERLY
Why is my PAK moving? And… WHERE is that music coming from?

Curious, she moves about cautiously checking around. Her eyes spot the clock — and she smiles.

KIMBERLY
Funny… pretty close to when I set the alarm so I might as well…

At that moment, the music disappears AND so does she, back down the hallway.

Then it starts all over again.

THE TIME (MORRIS DAY)
Girl, I’ve been watching you…
I think I wanna know ya (know ya)
I said I, I’m a little dangerous
Girl I I’d love to show ya (show ya)…

Kimberly, with house-hoodie on, returns to the kitchen and listens again to the music.

WHAT KIMBERLY HEARS
My JOURNAL love yeah

Oh JOURNAL love, yes
(oh we oh we oh)
Girl I need to show ya (Show ya)

My JOURNAL love (oh we oh we oh)
I think I wanna i think i wanna (Know ya)

She pours herself a cup of coffee from the THERMOS and reaches into her STRING PAK. The music stops.
She pulls out… JUNGLE EMPEROR LEO (the TEZUKA MANGA) she was gifted and starts to read (RIGHT TO LEFT)… studying the story and pictures intently.

Gifted lay-flat manga…

After a few pages, and a nearly empty cup, the music starts again.

WHAT KIMBERLY HEARS
My JOURNAL love (oh we oh we oh)
I think I wanna i think i wanna (Know ya)
(oh we oh we oh)…

KIMBERLY
Alright, already! I hear ya!

Undoing the scrunchie that’s keeping the JOURNAL closed, she lays it flat, takes pencil in hand, and begins…

KIMBERLY’S MUSINGS
Mornin’ Musings… And we begin… Told to just… FLO… so FLO I will… and begin at the beginning I will– Really? MORRIS DAY? THE TIME?? Come on, now…

FADE OUT.

And with that, Kimberly (AKA Kimba) starts her MUSINGS as directed.
