You’ve probably seen it by now. Timed for the opening of the NBA season was a new commercial from Samsung Mobile that covered a day in the life of Miami Heat basketball player, LeBron James. The focus was on his use of the Galaxy Note II which gave him, as Samsung stated, “the functional capabilities of a smartphone and all the creative elements of a tablet.”
>> CNET makes a good point… LeBron makes the Galaxy Note II look really small.
Here’s the video.
For 90 seconds (it’s a long commercial!) , you got much, much more. It was chock full of product placement that caused more buzz, perhaps, then the fact that he was using the new Note.
The Hat – Apparently it is the NEW ERA / NIKE 59Fifty fitted with LeBron’s “Heart of a Lion†logo. Good luck finding it.
What you can find is this…
This LeBron AW77 Virtus Men’s Hoodie costs merely $120 from Nike.com.

The Jeep – The buzz is that this is a “JK” Jeep. That just means the new body style that came after 2006.
The Nikes – Of course, they are his namesake shoes. You can find them at Nike.com ($220 and up). According to The Examiner’s Juan Martinez, these are the Nike LeBron X in gold that debuted opening night.
Beats – Briefly seen were his Beats wireless headphones without the logo (red “B” gets whiteout treatment).
Perhaps they didn’t pay the slotting fees the other brands did (total guess on my part).
Anyway, while we are on the subject, here’s a humorous ad with Dr. Dre and LeBron for Beats.
By the way, the creative team behind the campaign is Los Angeles-based advertising firm, 72andSunny.
One last notable, Samsung Mobile’s Facebook page has over 19m likes (19,005,024 likes · 1,290,522 talking about this.
