With the Chicago White Sox battling their way into the Post Season after suffering multiple 100 loss seasons (with 2024 matching the record for the MOST losses), it is with much joy we bring you a WowMe that’s been on Mr Pete’s mind since… August.
Indeed, the Chicago White Sox hosted a viral “Pope Night” promotionn on August 11, 2026, at Rate Field (Guaranteed Rate Field) against the Cincinnati Reds, giving away nearly 40,000 White Sox-branded papal miter hats to honor their most famous fan, Chicago-born Pope Leo XIV (Robert Francis Prevost).
Without further ado, please enjoy Mr Pete’s timely WowMe: AND SO UNTO YOU…
Enjoy!! —the editor
[Note: Eagles are standing by hoping for a bit of divine inspiration as they face some hungry RAMs without key players.]
“Well the Southside of Chicago
Is the baddest part of Town
And if you go down there
You better best beware
Of a man named —
Robert Francis Prevost AKA Pope Leo XVI
[Yup! Bad, Bad Leroy Brown with some tweeks. – the editor]

It Reads as Follows…
“As I have noted, sport can truly become a school of life, where all can learn that abundance does not come from victory at any cost, but from sharing, from respecting others and from the joy of walking together…
“…In this spirit, it is my hope that the White Sox will continue to foster bonds of friendship and solidarity among people, and thus bear hopeful witness to the possibility of living and working together in peace.
“With these sentiments, I willingly invoke the Almighty’s abundant blessings upon you and your loved ones.”
What the pontiff wrote to White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf.
That’s a Wrap…
That promotion filled my Facebook feed in August. Here we are, the start of October filled with [YOUR WORDS HERE].
For me: JOY! HOPE!!
For the editor: WONDERMENT !!
It didn’t require a miracle to get the Southside team to boldly end up AHEAD of their Northside cousins (though one day, a miracle MAY provide an ALL-CHICAGO World Series).
Kindred spirits unified and energized combined with what every team seeks this time of year: Good Health.
The only thing for certain WE can control is how we play the game AND how we treat each other.
As Pope Leo XIV said, Let’s focus on fostering bonds of friendship and solidarity. Let’s bear hopeful witness to the possibility of living and working together in peace.
That, my friends, is a noble mission. A win is taking care of each other and truly that’s all that really matters.
Peace be with you! — Mr Pete
