Another week has come and gone. This evening, the group gathering to get their next installment of RC’s “Stories @”THE SEA” are studying an image projected on the screen…

Okay… Thanks for the a capella WestSide Story song AGAIN.
Now, please gather around ’cause this week… IT. SHOWS. So listen up to find out…

INT. KATIE’S WESTSIDE HOUSE
RC THE STORYTELLER
Our KATIE, the former Suit, is having her usual FLEX-N-FLO morning which includes a quick run before getting on with her day.
On this day, as she was about to exit the front door, she notices a UPS package with a sticky note in Gear Guy’s handwriting.
GEAR GUY STICKY
Sorry! Opened by accident. Love the concept!
Katie smiles.
KATIE INTERNAL
Guess its my turn to exercise the “that can wait” approach I’ve been trying to get KEE-RA’s human, MEREDITH to embrace.
RC THE STORYTELLER
So Katie waved goodbye to the package and off she went. Somehow, as she got on with her day and her week, she neglected to circle back to open the package. Then, on a true day off, with nothing scheduled, she ventured to peek.
KATIE
Ah… Cute! Just like I…
She furrows her brows.
KATIE
Huh? Did I…?
Just then, her pal RC THE GREMLIN shows up.
RC THE GREMLIN
Mornin’ Sunshine! Ah! Green Duckies. It’s that Alien Green. Was in your mock-up on the computer, right?
KATIE
Hey there RC… You know… I did this so long ago I don’t remember which color I told them to make.
RC THE GREMLIN
Let’s take a look to ease your mind, shall we?
So they fire up Katie’s computer and load the mock-up page.
KATIE
I definitely was toying with green.
RC THE GREMLIN
I know you hate to do it this early in the day, but you oughta pop open your email and check.
KATIE
You’re right. I’ll ignore the onslaught of randomness and stay focused.
RC THE GREMLIN
That’s my girl!
KATIE
See! Yellow. I’m not losing my mind…
RC THE GREMLIN
Yet, my friend… yet…
KATIE
So… huh? You know… I don’t hate the green.
RC THE GREMLIN
Yeah but still, you oughta reach out to Sticker Mule and see what’s what. Don’t spiral on it.
KATIE
Okay. I’ll ping ‘em and then get my West Cliff run in.
RC THE GREMLIN
Yup. Let it go. Move on and deal when you get back.
KATIE
Gotcha! Thanks, RC!
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. KATIE’S WESTSIDE HOUSE
Katie is back from her run and has completed her stretches. Only then does she allow herself to check for a response from Sticker Mule.
KATIE INTERNAL
That would have been a fast turnaround, but… let’s see.
Sure enough, a reply awaited Katie. RC pops up and reads over her shoulder.
RC THE GREMLIN
O.M.G. !! That’s hilarious!
KATIE
No way… Really?
RC hands Katie a nail file.
RC THE GREMLIN
Do what the lady said. Give it a rub.
So Katie gently rubs the edge of the magnet with the file and then pulls away a light blue protective film which static sticks to her. After shaking it off, she smiles.
KATIE
Wow!
RC THE GREMLIN
Wow is right! They’re cute but…
KATIE
Will they work? Will the magnet hold?
RC THE GREMLIN
Definitely needs what your Gear Guy calls, “a shake out.”
KATIE
How did you…? (pause) Yeah, you’re right. Wonder how busy Meredith is today. I’d love to…
RC THE GREMLIN
Go ahead and send her a text-pic. Let’s see how she responds.
KATIE
Okay… But she’ll get the fresh out-of-the-package version like I did. Would be nice to gauge her reaction to the colour.
After hitting send, she starts upstairs to shower when she hears a PING back.
RC THE GREMLIN
That was quick, eh?
Katie picks up the phone and reads.
MEREDITH TEXT
OMG! Cute! What’s the GP?
KATIE TEXT
Meetup today… Mid-day??
MEREDITH TEXT
Let me move some stuff.
KATIE TEXT
Cool. JEDEMI lot with JEEP please.
MEREDITH TEXT
Copy that. Will confirm shortly.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. KATIE’S WESTSIDE HOUSE
A short while later…
RC THE GREMLIN
Peeked at your messages. She’s in!
KATIE
Cool. Not you reading my messages, but… that she’s in. I’ll hop over the hill and get her started. It’ll be a quick turnaround. Gear Guy left me an “assistance required” message.
RC THE GREMLIN
Those are usually followed by… beer, right?
Katie smiles.
KATIE
We’re overdue.
RC THE GREMLIN
Copy that! SEA-ya around!
He giggle-laughs in an infectious way.
KATIE
Good one and… Maybe yes!
Katie gives RC a wink, and then preps her Satchel-Pak for the quick excursion over the hill.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. JEDEMI CAFE
Katie pulls into the JEDEMI lot and notes the time on her clock.
KATIE INTERNAL
Whoopsie! I was so excited to share that… I’m early. Oh well.
Her pondering is interrupted by a light tap of a horn — JEEP horn exactly as MEREDITH pulls in next her. She smiles and waves. Before hopping out, she speaks to her co-pilot.
MEREDITH
Hey, Buddy. Your pal is here already.
KEE-RA
‘Cause she can’t wait to show ya. Look at her! She’s beaming! Go ahead. I’ll hang loose here in the Jeep.
MEREDITH
Thanks, Buddy.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. WESTSIDE BREW PUB
[RC IS ABOUT TO WALK OFF… LITERALLY]
RC bows and starts to exit stage left when the audience chimes in.
LISTENER IN THE SHADOWS
Come on, Mr Storyteller. Don’t leave us like that…
AUDIENCE IN UNISON
Yeah…
RC looks out and sees nobody is leaving. A few folks further in back have fired up their lighters signifying they want more… ( AKA “an encore”). Others have loaded up apps on their phone to send the same message.
RC nods.
RC THE STORYTELLER
So… a wee bit more you’d like?
AUDIENCE MEMBER 1
Uh… yeah !
AUDIENCE MEMBER 2
Waiting a week would be rough…
There was a pause as RC scans the audience. And then, ballpark style, a pint moves its way from back to front (almost like a relay) –finding its way to RC.
RC THE STORYTELLER
Ah!
He bows and then takes a long pull.
RC THE STORYTELLER
So tasty.
AUDIENCE MEMBER 1
Please keep going!
AUDIENCE MEMBER 2
We’ve already got your taco order in ….
AUDIENCE MEMBER 3
Please.
AUDIENCE IN UNISON
Please!
RC THE STORYTELLER
Okay, fine…
Now where was I … oh yeah, the parking lot at Jedemi.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. JEDEMI CAFE – PARKING LOT
KATIE, the former SUIT and the JEEP’s foster mom, MEREDITH (a SUIT in transition), are standing outside the Jeep in the JEDEMI CAFE parking lot.
Katie is smiling… grinning ear-to-ear. Meredith is eager to see the Sticker Mule magnets.
MEREDITH
Okay my friend… Show time.
KATIE
Gotcha!
Katie shakes several magnets out of an envelope and points to the trunk. Meredith nods and opens it. Katie strategically places the magnets on the inner trunk door.
MEREDITH
Nice! Solves the…
KATIE
Transportation problem. Ya gotta have a place to store your “duckables,” right?
MEREDITH
Always thinking, but yeah. Now…allow me to…
Meredith removes one of the MAG-NE-DUCKs and studies the back before placing it near the mock-up that’s close to the tail-light of the Jeep. She steps back, shakes her head and then tries again just over the license plate holder on the left side.
MEREDITH
My concern… there’s just a little circle magnet keeping your Duckie in place. I’m thinking it needs some protection from inadvertent knocks and then… we’ll see how well it holds.
KATIE
I was thinking that too, actually. I’m really curious if it’ll hold up to Jeep shakes and bumps.
MEREDITH
Driver side tail light… Might be better too, for someone watching from behind…
KATIE
Driver viewing Driver!
MEREDITH
Humm…
Meredith steps back across the parking lot to look at the Jeep. Katie walks with her part of the way and then returns to Kee-Ra’s side of the vehicle.
KATIE
Hey, Buddy. I can see your Mama’s wheels are turning.
KEE-RA
In a good way too. It has been a while since…
Before he can finish, Meredith approaches with a huge smile.
MEREDITH
Awesome! Got something to work with and … just thinking…
She holds up the magnet and has it flipped over.
MEREDITH
We should find a way to slap a QR code on the back to help with LOST & FOUND AND… if someone wants to learn more AND maybe… Get some!
KATIE
That’s brilliant! Right Kee-Ra?
KEE-RA
Told ya! This is going to be fun.
Katie hands her a small bag with a few more test magnets and a nail file. Meredith gives her a puzzled look.
KATIE
One more unveil for you. Take that file and gently rub…
Katie points to the Duckie’s feet.
Meredith does as she’s told and notices the blue film loosening up. She pulls it off and starts laughing.
MEREDITH
Ah… Just when the Green was growing on me.
KATIE
Figure this way you can test both colors and see what the response is like. The nice lady at Sticker Mule tipped me off about the nail file.
MEREDITH
Way cool. We’ll start testing. This’ll be fun… Right, buddy?
Kee-Ra raises a paw — looks a lot like a thumbs up. Katie and Meredith laugh.
KEE-RA
Let’s go Mama!
MEREDITH
Gotta get back for a call. This is awesome. You are onto something here.
Katie smiles and waves to them as they leave the Jedemi parking lot. Then, as she reaches into her pocket to pull out her keys, her SanDisk media player tumbles out.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. WESTSIDE BREW PUB
RC explains while pointing to the screen.
RC THE STORYTELLER
You familiar with this type of device?
There’s murmuring in the audience. RC smiles.
RC THE STORYTELLER
Probably not as most people stream to their phone … one-device-does-all.
AUDIENCE IN UNISON
Yup!
RC THE STORYTELLER
Okay, so I have first hand knowledge that our Ms Katie is working on getting folks to disconnect — taking a Time Out from being always on.
AUDIENCE MEMBER 1
Leaving the phone behind?
LISTENER IN THE SHADOWS
Or… in Airplane mode?
More murmuring in the audience.
RC THE STORYTELLER
Sorta… Kinda… Related to that concept, Katie had another idea… something that bubbled up during her run, that she wanted to share with Ms. Meredith.
AUDIENCE IN UNISON
Ah! Gotcha!
RC THE STORYTELLER
Got it? Good!! Now back to the story… Actually… we’re at the end…
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. JEDEMI CAFE
KATIE
Dang! I was going to…
She shakes her head as she hops into her car.
KATIE INTERNAL
Maybe next time…
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. WESTSIDE BREW PUB
RC the Storyteller bows. And his order of tacos has magically appeared.
RC THE STORYTELLER
Yum!
The screen now flashes his universal image for “To Be Continued.”
There’s murmuring going on. An audience member pipes up.
AUDIENCE MEMBER 1
Thanks, Mr Storyteller!
AUDIENCE MEMBER 2
Yeah… Enjoy your food, Mr Storyteller!
AUDIENCE MEMBER 3

RC swallows a bite, takes a swig of his beverage and clears his throat.
RC THE STORYTELLER

He points to the screen.
RC laughs.
RC THE STORYTELLER
For Duckin’ Tales, this is the end of Season 1. As you can imagine, Kee-Ra and his human need time to work the concept and … you know adapt and …

RC THE STORYTELLER
Right! You’re catching on!
AUDIENCE MEMBER 2
So … are you on hiatus then?
RC THE STORYTELLER
Lord no! My work is never over. There’s Mr Squeek’s adventure. There’s a new Taming project… or two or three…
He’s counting on his fingers and has stopped.
RC THE STORYTELLER
Oh… and there’s this fantastical story that Kee-Ra and Mr Squeek told me about. You’ll dig it for sure.
AUDIENCE IN UNISON
Ah!
He’s about to head off and then returns to his spot.
RC THE STORYTELLER
One more thing… Please… whenever you can, drop in up the street and say “Yo!” to Mr Squeek.
There’s some murmuring.
