Mr. Pete’s WowMe 018 Song, Soul, Mission…

I believe that within every song lies the soul of a Romantic Warrior… And also, when a song touches us all, its Soul has completed its mission.

The Soul of a Romantic Warrior

I believe that within every song lies the soul of a Romantic Warrior. The birth of any song relies on a spark of imagination, wrapped in an emotional embrace of creativity. Within the realm of Music, the Soul of the Song speaks in a universal language. Seasoned in mix of words and music is the whispered challenge from the Romantic Warrior.

Worth repeating…

WE will Confront our Fears,
WE will Confess our Madness
WE will Embrace our Youth,
WE will Share our Loves and Passions
WE will Celebrate our Uniqueness
WE will Dance in the Light of the Creator’s Love…

When A Song touches us all, its Soul has completed its mission. No matter what genre it is expressed in, its spiritual structure remains intact.

“Take Five” by the Dave Brubeck Quartet is one such song.

With its unique Time Signature, this song is instantly recognizable when it breathes out it’s opening notes.

A songs evolves from good-to-great when it can cross the borders of music genres and maintain its passion and energy.

Five Takes on Take Five…

I found a few examples of this on YouTube.

Note: each video presents the the song in an unique way, while maintaining it’s soulful spiritual structure:

Recorded in 1959, “Take Five” was featured on the album, “TIME OUT” by the David Brubeck Quartet. Here’s a promotional video from that time:

Soon this joyful noise was celebrated by Jazz Fans around the world.

A cool breeze crosses our path and tweaks the rhythm structure, making the jazz masterpiece a dance floor smoker.

With twin guitars splitting the originals piano/sax roles, we are witness to some fine “shredding,” but the magic of the song remains intact.

The sax comes out from the shadows, out pushes the performance to the “cosmos”.

…and you know that you are a cultural icon, when you are honored with a mention/wink in episode of the Simpsons:

…and now my favorite that would not be out of place in an Austin Powers movie, either in Mod Soho London, or a Go-Go Bar on the Sunset Strip:

We return to the original with a twist of improv:

An “earworm” for the rest of your life (but in a really GOOD way).

Simply tune that Radio in your Head to the Station of Time and Place of your choosing. Close your Eyes and Smile.
