The Paramount Mountain comes to Vegas and there’s synergy galore. A Walmart tie-in?? Enjoy! – the editor
A news release from Las Vegas week posted the other day.
In time for the Big Game in Las Vegas this February, the Paramount Mountain will be erected on the site of the soon to be former Mirage Volcano during the frenzy of Super Bowl week. Being a movie buff, I would be tempted to venture to the strip and pay the parking fees just to get my photo on this publicity stunt. To be surrounded by the various IP from Paramount Global, including Spongebob Squarepants in a possible photo op, is such brilliant publicity during the week its broadcast division, CBS, will be broadcasting The Big Game, and that the NFL agreed to simulcast the game on Nickelodeon with a slime filled family version of the same game.
Corporate synergy has been in overuse with companies like Disney and Comcast. That being said, it is refreshing to see how Paramount Global is promoting its IP on its biggest week of the new year.
If only Squigward was making an appearance at the Mirage, my brother would be there in a New York
minute.
More Goofiness (!?!)
This goofiness is spreading to another corporate coupling with Paramount: This time it is with Walmart!
Clever advertising has always been a trademark of Walmart’s rival, Target (See my previous column during the last holiday season).
To my surprise, Walmart one-upped them. With the help of, you guessed it, Paramount Global…

I never actually saw Mean Girls when it came out in theaters. I thought it was a Lindsay Lohan vehicle and paid it no mind back in the early 2000’s. A brainchild of Tina Fey, of SNL and 30 Rock fame, this film became a cult classic that spawned a Broadway musical and an upcoming film of that said musical. Lo and behold, several cast members, including Lohan herself, returned to the Mean Girls pond for Walmart’s Black Friday Deal promotion.
Note: This tie-in, includes a special to sign up for Walmart+, their version of Amazon Prime, for half off for the full year. One of the perks to this membership is, you guessed it, a year of Paramount+.
You got to like this marketing.
Take a look at these promotions and enjoy!
